Amish Bishop Killed in Lake Erie Boating Accident

Since I can’t find much on the news yet, I decided to write a short article here as accurately as possible.

On Monday Aug. 5, 2019 reports came in that there was a boating accident on Lake Erie shortly after 5 pm.

According to numerous Lake Erie charter captains that I spoke to, David Miller better known as Auctioneer David Miller was fishing near the weather buoy which is near the Canadian line.

They had their limit of walleye and were on the way in when the accident happened. Numerous people reported that they hit another boat’s waves and were thrown from the boat.

According to The Chronicle ” First responders were called to a possible capsized boat with five people in the water on Lake Erie north of Beaver Park shortly after 5 p.m. When Lorain police and the Coast Guard arrived, the boat was righted and all five were in the vessel, according to Lorain police Officer Brent Payne.”

Ivan Yoder 44, an Amish bishop from Kansas Rd in Wayne County was killed and 2 others were lifeflighted in critical condition to area hospitals.

David Miller drives a Ranger boat.

We will keep this post updated.
